ATLANTA’s HISTORY-MAKING YOUTH
AWARDED A SCHOLORSHIP TO
RENOUWNED PREPARTORY SCHOOL



What: One of the winners of the 2007 history-making Frank Ski Kids Foundation Science Competition who travelled to the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos Islands, Elizabeth Oppong, will attend the same preparatory school that educated two American Presidents, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush.

14 year-old Oppong of Malcolm Bridge Middle School in Athens, Georgia, has been awarded a scholarship to Phillips Academy Andover in Fall 2008.

Dear Mr. Frank Ski,

We hope this letter finds you and your family well. We wanted to inform you that Elizabeth will attend Phillips Academy in Fall 2008, and she has been awarded a scholarship to attend. We are very happy with this accomplishment and thank you and the foundation for providing Elizabeth great opportunities in the past year. All the support you have given her will enable her to attend one of the top high schools in the world. We thank you sincerely and will keep you informed about Elizabeth’s development.

Phillips Academy (also known as Phillips Andover or P.A. or simply Andover) is a co-educational University preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9-12. The location of the school is in Andover, Massachusetts, 25 miles north of Boston. Phillips Academy is the oldest continuously running incorporated boarding school in the United States, established in 1778 by Samuel Phillips, Jr.

Phillips Academy’s endowment stood around $787 million in January, 2008, the third-highest of any American secondary school. The academy traditionally educated its students for Yale, Harvard and Amherst but students now matriculate to a wide range of colleges and universities.

Among other notable alumni, Andover has educated two American Presidents, George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush, law and Order creator Dick Wolf, four Medal of Honor recipients, inventor Samuel Morse, and author Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr..

“Planet Green Eco Experience of a Lifetime” was a seven-day Science excursion held July 2007. Oppong was one of 11 kids who made U.S. history traveling to the Charles Darwin Research Station to trace the footsteps of Charles Darwin and his theory of evolution.

15 year-old Carter of Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, Georgia,will present her winning speech to EPA executives about the topic:

RADIO STAR FRANK SKI TO ANNOUNCE TEAMS FOR UPCOMING FRANK SKI KIDS FOUNDATION’s 4TH ANNUAL YOUTH BOWL and details about Celebrity Wine Tasting and Live Auction

WHAT: Frank Ski will announce on V103’s Frank and Wanda in the Morning during the week of November 26, the teams competing in the much-anticipated Frank Ski Kids Foundation Youth Bowl IV game for kids ages 12 and 13 from the Atlanta area football leagues.

Youth football leagues are welcome to participate by contacting the Frank Ski Kids Foundation. Four teams will be selected. Teams compete for their share of grants, prizes and trophies of more than $20,000.

V-103’s Frank Ski joins Hands on Atlanta Board

ATLANTA – August 10, 2007 – Four new members, including V-103 personality Frank Ski, were elected to the Hands On Atlanta Board of Directors in July.

Ski is the host of the Frank Ski and Wanda in the Morning radio program on WVEE – 103, rated by Arbitron as the top radio station in Atlanta. A 15 year veteran of radio, Ski is an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta and a former member of the board for the Latin American Association. In addition, the Frank Ski Kids Foundation provides educational and experiential opportunities for youth in an effort to promote achievement and self expression.

“We’re excited to welcome these community and business leaders to Hands On Atlanta’s Board,” said Hands On Atlanta Chief Executive Officer Tracy Hoover. “they each bring unique talents and a demonstrated commitment to our community. ATLANTA AREA SCHOOL KIDS MAKE U.S. CONSERVATION HISTORY

WHAT: Radio star Frank Ski’s idea to take a group of kids to the Galapagos Islands and the Charles Darwin Research Station is setting a precedent in the United States – it’s the first time an African American Foundation is traveling to the Galapagos Islands for a science excursion; Frank Ski is the first radio star and the first Atlanta-based group to go.

Every July, as part of the Frank Ski Kids Foundation’s science competition initiative, trend-setter and adventurous radio star Frank Ski awards kids the opportunity to experience NASA’s Space & Rocket Center in Alabama. This year, Frank Ski has decided to give kids an even more unique experience of a lifetime in the name of science and learning.

20 kids ages 13-15 were chosen to deliver essays in speech form as if he or she were the President of the United States addressing the nation on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at the Georgia Aquarium, 7:00pm-10:00pm. 10 winners will be awarded the opportunity to travel, all expenses paid, with the Frank Ski Kids Foundation to the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos Islands, the world’s best conserved oceanic and tropical archipelago, July 26-August 1, 2007

Experts Albert A. George, second Director of Education from the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta’s Curator of Birds, James Balance, will be traveling with the winners to provide insight and education.
