V103 Radio Star Frank Ski Hosts Youth Panel at 8th Sullivan Summit in Arusha, Tanzania

The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation led U.S. based delegates to Arusha, Tanzania for its 8th Summit on June 2-6th 2008. The summit included a two night stay in Ethiopia’s capital city of Addis Ababa.

Participants of the Sullivan Summit included African Heads of State, as well as notable people and organizations from the U.S. such as Reverend Jesse Jackson, CBS Radio’s Frank Ski, actor Chris Tucker, CNN’s TJ Holmes, NBA star Kelenna Azubuike (Golden State Warriors), B.E.T. (Black Entertainment Television), and over 3000 others who joined the Summit’s movement in Arusha. The Summit themed, “The Summit of A Lifetime,” by Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete, has been the most successful of all the Summits since the late Reverend Leon H. Sullivan began the biennial conference in 1991.

Philanthropist Frank Ski continued the work he does for name sake 501 c 3 Frank Ski Kids Foundation in Atlanta, by donating 5 thousand dollars worth of food, clothes and shoes for the Samaritan orphanage that houses 24 children neglected, abused or left for dead. Frank Ski along with members of the foundation, Director, Fashion Hendricks and Business Manager, JeNika P. Thomas spent an entire day shopping for the orphanage, dropping off the supplies, then ending the day with Frank Ski playing multiple soccer games with the 24 children that reside at the Samaritan home.

On Tuesday June 3rd 2008, Frank Ski moderated a highly attended youth panel. Over 1000 youth gathered at the AICC in Arusha to discuss the lack of opportunities that the youth have in Tanzania. Frank Ski opened the floor to the students and gave them an opportunity to ask questions or comment on what they feel their challenges are in today’s society and the hardships they face living in Africa.

If you are one of the youth that attended this youth pannel in Arusha, Tanzania, the business cards from the individuals willing to be a mentor are on this website's gallery page under the Summit Album.

Please feel free to leave your comments for potential mentors to read.

I atually participated this Summit themed the 'Summit of a Lifetime' and I was actually moved by the way people helped that young boy who said he loved to play all sorts of games and art yet he did not have any one to help him.Truly speaking am much gratefully to the American people who visited our country and in one way or the other they changed lives of the so many people who attended the summit.
Cheers Leon Sullivan Foundatiioin cheers Frank Ski Kids.
