Healing For The Heart

ATLANTA -- There are few events more special for a young person than the high school senior prom. It's a way to celebrate the memories, accomplishments and friendships from all those years of school. International Art Excursion: Florence, Italy

The Frank Ski Kids Foundation International Art Excursion: Florence, Italy:
From the ruins of the Roman Empire to Michelangelo’s iconic statue of David, for thousands of years Italy has been at the forefront of Western culture. This summer, a select group of budding young artists won the opportunity to see many of the celebrated historical treasures they’ve read about in school and that have been preserved in the finest Italian art museums.

Ten students traveld with the Frank Ski Kids Foundation on an 8-day excursion to Florence, Italy on July 26, 2009.

Students ages 13 to 15 submitted an original drawing to enter the contest. The art submission had to be created by lead or colored pencil only and the theme of the competition was LANDSCAPES.

Entrants were judged on originality, technique, skill and how well the artwork related to the theme LANDSCAPES.

The top 20 entrants advanced on to participate in a LIVE drawing contest that took place at the High Museum of Art where the top 10 entrants were judged on their original artwork submitted and the piece they sketched on location.

Congratulations to our ten talented winners:

1. Anthony Martinelli / Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School
2. Olivia Burns / Glenn C. Jones Middle School
